Is it legal to collect fossils in Yellowstone? Just wondering. I read somewhere, though, that something like 95% of Yellowstone hadn't been looked at archaeologically. So, there's surely a lot there.
From what I understand, the area they were in was was outside of the park but still monitored by the Dept of Interior. They were allowed to take fossils of anything other than vertebrates. They did find a hadrosaur (sp?) and notified the officials.
